--- Alexander the Great on the Web. A directory of pages about Alexander, the Hellenistic Age and Friends ("Alexanderama.")
- By Timothy Spalding. This page, formerly called Alexanderama, lists over 750 pages relating to Alexander the Great. The pages vary widely in scholarship and beauty, but the general level of both is quite low. The pagemaster has appended comments, occasionally sharp ones. He apologizes for any unjust offense.

--- Alexander and Darius at the Battle of Issus
- Mosaic from Pompeii (House of the Fawn). This mosaic, found in Pompeii, depicts a battle between Alexander the Great and the Persian king Darius, probably the Battle of the Issus River in November of 333 BCE. It is in opus vermiculatum, with over one and a half million tesserae, none larger than 4 mm., in four colors: white, yellow, red, and black. The minuteness of the tesserae enables incredibly fine detail and painterly effects, including remarkable portraits of Alexander and Darius. Several detailed images are provided: Overall Mosaic; Alexander; Horse; Cavalry horse; Alexander; Darius III; Right side;and a Fallen Persian. Close-up image of Alexander is here.

--- Argaeus, Ptolemy II and Alexander's Corpse
- By W.S. Greenwalt (Santa Clara University) From The Ancient History Bulletin 2.2 (1988) 39-41.
The author argues that if Pausanias is correct in connecting the Ptolemaic Argaeus with the final burial of Alexander, that fact would both confirm the importance of the mythological Argaeus’ connection with dynastic legitimacy in Macedonia, and suggest how Ptolemy II played upon the loyalties of expatrioted Macedonians in order to cement the royal legitimacy of his house.
See the response by Christian Habicht (The Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, NJ). From The Ancient History Bulletin 2.4 (1988) 88-89 -- response to Greenwalt.
